Anesthetized with isoflurane for left wing surgery. Induced with iso by facemask then intubated with a 7.0 mm uncuffed ET tube. Placed IV catheter in right medial metatarsal vein and ran LRS at 10 ml/kg/hour. The bird was stable under anesthesia.
There is a full thickness skin and connective tissue wound on the dorsal aspect of the left carpus that has left two 3 mm-diameter tendons exposed. There is also skin loss ventral to this lesion that has exposed the major tendon running along the radius.
Treatment plan:
Synulox 3.5 ml IM SID for 5 days
Meloxicam 2 ml IM SID for 5 days
Laser therapy on left wing surgical site SID for 7 days.

Intake exam. Staff reports that the bird was not using the left wing prior to capture. HR 90 bpm. The bird is severely (10-12%) dehydrated and depressed. Placed IV catheter in medial MT vein. Gave approximately 650 ml of LRS IV over the next 12 hours. The bird was intially sternally recumbent but was standing about 2 hours into fluid therapy.
Blood glucose on entry was 334 mg/dL, likely indicating stress.
